मन्दाकिनि-सलिलचन्दन-चर्चिताय नन्दीश्वर-प्रमथनाथ-महेश्वराय। मन्दारपुष्प-बहुपुष्प-सुपूजिताय तस्मै मकाराय नमः शिवाय॥

Salutations to Shiva (syllable "Ma") — anointed with Ganga water and sandal paste, Lord of Nandi and of the ghostly hosts, worshipped with mandara and many other flowers.

Salutations to Shiva (syllable "Shi") — the sun that makes Gauri's lotus-face bloom, destroyer of Daksha's sacrifice, the blue-throated one whose banner bears the bull.

वसिष्ठ-कुम्भोद्भव-गौतमार्यमुनीन्द्र-देवार्चितशेखराय। चन्द्रार्क-वैश्वानरलोचनाय तस्मै वकाराय नमः शिवाय॥

Vasishtha-kumbhodbhava-gautamarya-munindra-devarchita-shekharaya, Chandrarka-vaishvanara-lochanaya Tasmai Vakaraya Namah Shivaya.

Salutations to Shiva (syllable "Va") — whose crown is worshipped by Vasishtha, Agastya, Gautama and other great sages and gods, whose three eyes are the moon, sun, and fire.

यक्षस्वरूपाय जटाधराय पिनाकहस्ताय सनातनाय। दिव्याय देवाय दिगम्बराय तस्मै यकाराय नमः शिवाय॥

Yakshasvarupaya Jatadharaya Pinakahastaya Sanatanaya, Divyaya Devaya Digambaraya Tasmai Yakaraya Namah Shivaya.

मुदाकरात्तमोदकं सदाविमुक्तिसाधकं कलाधरावतंसकं विलासिलोकरक्षकम्। अनायकैकनायकं विनाशितेभदैत्यकं नताशुभाशुनाशकं नमामि तं विनायकम्॥

Muda-karatta-modakam sada vimukti-sadhakam, Kaladharavatamsakam vilasi-loka-rakshakam, Anayakaika-nayakam vinashitebha-daityakam, Natashubhashu-nashakam namami tam Vinayakam.

I bow to Vinayaka, who joyfully holds the modaka sweet, who is ever the means to liberation, who wears the crescent-moon-bearer (Shiva) as his crest-jewel, protector of the joyous world, the one leader among the leaderless, destroyer of the elephant-demon, remover of the sins of those who bow to him.

नतेतरातिभीकरं नवोदितार्कभास्वरं नमत्सुरारिनिर्जरं नताधिकापदुद्धरम्। सुरेश्वरं निधीश्वरं गजेश्वरं गणेश्वरं महेश्वरं तमाश्रये परात्परं निरन्तरम्॥

Natetarati-bhikaram navoditarka-bhasvaram, Namat-surari-nirjaram natadhikapad-uddharam, Sureshvaram nidhishvaram gajeshvaram ganeshvaram, Maheshvaram tam-ashraye paratparam nirantaram.

I take refuge in him who strikes fear in those hostile to his devotees, radiant as the newly risen sun, before whom gods and their undying foes alike bow, who lifts those in deep distress — Lord of the gods, Lord of treasures, Lord of elephants, Lord of the ganas, the great Lord, supreme beyond the supreme, eternal.

समस्तलोकशङ्करं निरस्तदैत्यकुञ्जरं दरेतरोदरं वरं वरेभवक्त्रमक्षरम्। कृपाकरं क्षमाकरं मुदाकरं यशस्करं मनस्करं नमस्कृतां नमस्करोमि भास्वरम्॥

Samasta-lokashankaram nirasta-daitya-kunjaram, Dareterodaram varam varebha-vaktram-aksharam, Kripakaram kshamakaram mudakaram yashaskaram, Manaskaram namaskritam namaskaromi bhasvaram.

I salute that radiant one who blesses all worlds, who felled the elephant-demon, of unique form, whose face is like a noble elephant’s trunk, imperishable, full of compassion, forgiveness, joy and glory, delighter of the mind, honored even by those who receive honor.

अकिञ्चनार्तिमार्जनं चिरन्तनोक्तिभाजनं पुरारिपूर्वनन्दनं सुरारिगर्वचर्वणम्। प्रपञ्चनाशभीषणं धनञ्जयादिभूषणं कपोलदानवारणं भजे पुराणवारणम्॥

Akinchanarti-marjanam chirantanokti-bhajanam, Purari-purva-nandanam surari-garva-charvanam, Prapancha-nasha-bhishanam dhananjayadi-bhushanam, Kapola-dana-varanam bhaje puranavaranam.

I worship that primordial elephant-faced one who wipes away the sorrow of the destitute, the vessel of ancient sayings, elder son of the enemy of Tripura (Shiva), crusher of the pride of the gods’ enemies, terrible at the dissolution of the universe, adorned by Dhananjaya (Arjuna) and others, whose cheeks flow with musth.

नितान्तकान्तदन्तकान्तिमन्तकान्तकात्मजं अचिन्त्यरूपमन्तहीनमन्तरायकृन्तनम्। हृदन्तरे निरन्तरं वसन्तमेव योगिनां तमेकदन्तमेव तं विचिन्तयामि सन्ततम्॥

Nitanta-kanta-danta-kanti-mantakantakatmajam, Achintya-rupam-antaheenam-antaraya-krintanam, Hridantare nirantaram vasantam-eva yoginam, Tam-ekadantam-eva tam vichintayami santatam.

I ever meditate on the single-tusked one, whose lovely tusks gleam with splendor, son of Him who conquered Death (Shiva), of unimaginable and endless form, remover of obstacles, who dwells constantly in the hearts of yogis.
