Nama Ramayanam (opening portion, verses 1-8 of 108)
Source: Attributed to Lakshmanacharya, a Sri Vaishnava devotee/scholar.
One devotional-tradition source additionally claims the "original" composition traces to sage Narada, with Lakshmanacharya credited with setting it to its current form — this reads as hagiographic tradition rather than a documented historical claim, so it is noted here as legend, not fact. An alternate authorship claim of "Muddu Krishna Kavi" found in some casual references could not be independently verified anywhere and has been dropped rather than repeated. Structurally, the complete text is 108 verses across 7 kandas (Bala 1-22, Ayodhya 23-34, Aranya 35-48, Kishkindha 49-53, Sundara 54-61, Yuddha 62-86, Uttara 87-108) — each a single line ending in "Ram", walking chronologically through the entire Ramayana story. Only the verified opening 8 verses are shown below.
